Since the Ranger FOP will no longer host any real discussions concerning Lake Mead and its management staff, some of us decided to put up this site and allow comments to be made.

Please keep it fairly clean, be professional and let it all out.......

This is an excellent idea. Now if we could only be sure that no one knows who's who on here. But here goes.

Doesn't management realize that the more they pound us down the more resiliant we become? I know that most of the rangers are looking for other jobs elsewhere, but please don't. Too many of you will be here long after they are gone. Things should get better. (We hope). You;re all good at what you do and this park needs you.

I know you're sick and tired of what's going on and nothing being done about it, but if we give them enough rope and a bigger shovel they will hang themselves and then bury themselves. And we can sit back and laugh.

Has any of you thought about that if Mary doesn't get the job in Yosemite that she'll be the new CR? Terrible thought but could be possible.

This is a long time coming and a very good idea. I commend those who have started this blog.

Since enacting their brilliant idea the FOP site has had a very poor turnout. Going from several 100 per week to maybe 10. And their new policy cannot guarantee any anonyminity to those posting on the site, destroying it as an avenue to voice your opinion, and to have it heard by managment without fear of retaliation.

What disturbed me the most about this move by the FOP was when they closed the site to non-FOP members it was supposedly because a post discussing AOU for field trainers became abusive and negative. But, they did NOTHING to that post at all, yet oddly enough the top 3 posts which were all about LAME, were removed. Hmm, sounds like Mary et al has a friend in high places at the FOP now that Randall has stepped down. Not good for ANYONE.

Hopefully this site will provide everyone a safe avenue to discuss issues and the ever popular misconduct at LAME, and I agree with the previous posting, - it is always darkest before the dawn so hang in there. And unfortunately for us JLennon was wrong when he assumed Karma was instant.

Gentlemen/Ladies:

For whatever it might be worth, I started this blog. I made up my name (for registration purposes) and I gave them my email address. We are ALL using the same login name and we are all using the same password! There is only one person who could be identified and that me! I really don't care as I am NOT an L.E. Ranger.

Stay safe!!

Great idea, with the blog. The lodge discussion board has dried up, I think they cut their own throats with that one. Besides I think membership is also slipping.

If MH gets the CR should we try for a union again?

Blogger Park Ranger said...

Whoever you are that started this blog, bless you.

If Mary gets the the CR job should we try for another union again?

We should always try and get a union going, but unfortunately you all know what happenes to people who try and support it. They're gone one way or another. The only way that we can overcome MH and her gang is to have total and complete buy-in from every ranger at Lake Mead.

What are they gonna do, fire ALL LE rangers? Now wouldn't that get some attention in Washington? But we all know that there won't be total buy-in because MH spies will have control of certain aspects.

I fell sorry for the new rangers coming on board. Unless they are working for the dark side. They have no idea what's going on and most of them want to stay out of it. Good luck guys. You're gonna be drawn into it just like everyone else. I'll give these new rangers at least a year before they decide they have to move on.

Hopefully this will stop soon. We're losing too many GOOD rangers and Lake Mead has a bad rep already.

The union would have happened in 2001 if: 1) A few more pro-union rangers had had the guts to testify before the FLRA, 2) Willie Lopez hadn't sold out his fellow rangers by testifying against the union (Hope you enjoyed the hurricane season in the Dry Tortugas, Willie), 3) The FLRA sent us an experienced judge, rather than a rookie trainee accompanied by her FTO. This naive young lady seemed to accept without question the bullshit that the NPS was slinging. All those who betrayed their fellow rangers, including Willie, Marc Burt, and John Tesar, then received their quid pro quo promotions from management. Hope they are quite proud of themselves. I know these things because I was there, but am now retired. Lake Mead LE rangers desparately need a union, or the abuses will continue and get worse. Best wishes to all of you and good luck. You may be oppressed, but at least you have something that Willie, Marc, and John lack, i.e. integrity.

Hey this is a great idea guys. I would like to say that what comes around goes around....Dale was overheard Tuesday stating to the head of the Northern Arizona Seasonal Ranger Academy, as Tal walked by "Damn I just knew that he was gonna get that job and we'd be loosing him". Something else to look forward too. One more down, so many more to go!

2006 PREDICTIONS
Everyone moves up the ladder

Mary gets Chief Ranger job
Northshore District Ranger Margate gets Assist Chief job.

If Boulder District Ranger Tal leaves
Then Boulder Shift supervisor Eric gets the District Ranger job.

And they get to hire another friend as one of the shift supervisors or move Lena back up to Boulder district.

I am really happy that you guys
are doing this for the benefit of rangers that really do need to talk and get things off their chests.

I am the wife of one of the rangers that retired this year and who gave his dedicated service to Lake Mead for 17 years (3 at Cottonwood Cove and 14 at Overton Beach........

To say that he was oppressed and under the gun all the time is an understatement. The whole family went thru hell for 5 months before my husband was forced to retire because his retirement was being threatened. He was asked by Dale to become the next District Ranger but he refused, knowing that he didn't want to be under Dale, Mary, etc. and listen to all the other rangers being berated, ridiculed, harrassed, etc. He heard enough of it when he was acting-district ranger........

To put it briefly, my husband was not well liked by Scott Hinson because he didn't agree with my husband's investigation techniques. That was one of many things that the "world under Dale and Mary" didn't not agree with. Mary used Margaret as a tool or puppet to get any information that was construed as negative about my husband. She also used Prashant to be a go-between and call Margaret every day to get an update on my husband......The spies are rampant in the park!!!!Margaret couldn't agree with my husband who knew how to do things and she was very incompetant, so she blamed him when things didn't get done. One day when my husband had come back from being the IC EMT commander for the community of Overton, Nv after a terrible flood hit it (Jan 13, 2004), he was slapped with a "your on light duty" notice. Yes, he was getting treatment for a physical illness but the doctor said that he could go back and work full duty. They claimed that he needed help for his grieving, was depressed, had PTSD, etc. Yes, he was grieving for our son (that never stops by the way) and his parents that died last year, etc. but he did not let it get in the way of his job. One of our close friends who worked at Echo Bay turned on us and made these false accusations to Margaret and that set the stage for awful events to occur which almost destroyed our family. By the way, the two people that accused my husband of "conspiring to get their jobs" at Echo Bay are no longer there. One quit and one was fired because they didn't like how he was doing his job....They even sent down a federal investigator to grill my husband......For 5 months my husband underwent two psychiatric sessions to determine if he was depressed, which by the way, they found he wasnt and two medical examinations which, by the way, they didn't find anything wrong either. During that time they stripped him of all his duties, took away his gun ( I had a huge crying session over that), deameaned him, demoralized him, and preyed on his vulerabilities and used his grief to manipulate him into retiring. My husband has recieved two Medal of Valor awards (the last one in Mov. of this year) and when he came back in Feb. of 2004 they gave him a suspension notice (with no counseling) that he supposedly did or said 15 things that were inappropriate.....all misconstrued or false innuendos. Every time he turned around something else was done to bring him down.....

Well, the real reason all this happened was because he wouldn't join the "dark side" and align himself with the unethical, corrupt, incompetant "snakes". Because he only had one more year till retirement and he knew he would get no support at all, and he didn't want to subject our family to any more heartbreak, he retired.

I urge all of you to keep writing to Senator Reid about all the injustices and illegal things that are happening at Lake Mead. Have your friends, your co-workers, your family, visitors all write in. I know Dale and Mary's alliance is strong but what they are doing is injust, unethical, and wrong. There are still good rangers and friends that have been there awhile that are getting beaten and battered. Please, don't allow the mistreatment and defamation and humiliation to occur to you. It is horrible. We did go see John Porter in Feb. of 2004 with 15 letters from friends, co-rangers, VIP's, community leaders, EMT responders, etc. that vouched for my husbands character and professionalism and they asked that the park be investigated for apparent wrongdoing........Well, I guess that that backfired because nothing was ever done and my husband's life was he** after that. Also, please try for the unions again. Collective Bargaining was tried in the early nineties and because Dale was against it, he promised that any ranger that supported it would never be promoted.....Well, he succeeded. The rangers need protected and a voice!!!!! Keep trying and doing what is right.

Sorry this is so long but I had to get my feelings out. I miss the Park Service because that is all we have ever known and our Park Service family deserted us. The infrastructure has changed and the way field rangers are treated is terrible.

Just know that I am thinking of you guys and hope that things do get better. Those of you who know who we are, just know we always hope for the best for you dedicated rangers........

I would't worry about Margret right now. Randy, Mindy's attorney, was able to get her, Tals and Eric applications through FOA, and he found several "questionalble" statements in 2. He asked the "dark side" to investigate Margrets because there were many blatant statements, they didn't so last month he hand carried it to the IA division in DC, and insisted they investigate. The great news is margret was heard telling a seasonal it was OK to lie in your applications because noone ever reads it. I guess she was wrong. I think she needs to step down. Maybe we can help that happen. Let's get this info out to the proper channels. AUSA, IA, Reid.

When they went into Mindy's file and found false statements, she had her commission suspended, a Regional investigation, and a BOI.
What will Margret get, a slap in the face. That depends on you.

8:49 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Some clarification.

I was privy to Margaret's application. I was able to have this access because applicants that are successfully selected can have their applicaitons released to the public thru FOIA. (hmm, are the cogs turning?)

In Margaret's application for her current supervisory position there were LOTS of what I would personally characterize as exagerations, and a couple of what I would characterize as no way in hell statements. Now, I am not saying she lied, I am just expressing my personal opinion as to the ability for one to accomplish these tasks.

Randy sent a letter to Gary Warshefski outlining his discovery of these statements and asking for an investigation based on his concerns as a citizen. LAME said that unless Randy gave the particulars they could "take no action". Odd, if I could in a quick glance ID major issues in her applicaiton, how could they not? By choice.

Since the park was obviously not going to do anything, Randy hand carried his complaint to the IA office in WDC, and so now we wait.

The big issue to me is she has these statements in her current, supervisory application. Mine (I am sure you have figured out it is me, hi everyone) weren't in the application for work at LAME, nor were they for a supervisory position. And, Mary, Dale, Kevin first attempted to FIRE me, but oddly enough Jerome said no. He said I couldn't be fired because the statement was not in my current application. And, I think we know what happened next.

Unequal treatment? giglio/henthorn?
supervisory issues?
Supervisory probabtion?

Who knows, I seriously doubt the NPS will take any action, but a little (or lot) of pressure never hurt. In light of the previous post by someone who felt they were done wrong by this very person, I would say it is definately worth a try.

Oh, and the opinions expressed here do not in any way reflect those of anyone else, or this blog, and are just that - opinions I drew based on my limited knowledge of the situation. I am in no way implying guilt, misconduct, or criminal activity.

Oh, and I like your blog.

Earlier today, a conversation took place about letting the people on the "dark side" know about this blog. The good part is they might be a little concerned about what is being said and/or they may even want to post a comment or two explaining or responding to their pissant actions. What do you folks think? Please let me know....

Dale’s at it again with his memos.

The latest is on boating policies. Why does Dale have to send out memo’s (reports, ethics, radio use, etc) when most of the problems are issues that Mary and her band of know it all, have caused. Why not just tell Mary to get her friends in line. Has anyone else notice all the memo’s Dale sends out since Mary and her group has taking over.

11:00 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Ummmmm...... I think you are wrong re: this particular memo. What happened was Good Old Billie Shott (remember him) had decided to contradict the boating policy of the Park and for the past several years, we have been doing what he and Mary wanted concerning boat tows. Last week a LAME boating VIP (in their personal boat)needed assistance and was basically told (per Billie's memo) to pound sand. The VIP went to Dale, Dale found out what had been done and said - WRONG. He issued a new memo putting things back the way they were (Barbra Steisand/Robert Redford - early 70's). Believe it or not, I consider this an action against the dark side. Perhaps they MIGHT get the clue that in a water park, they (the Dark Side) need to do more than write tickets and arrest DUI's at the END of their shift (to get the overtime......)

11:56 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Oops - I misread the comment concerning Dale's last memo. You are right. Perhaps if the people working for him didn't want to control the world, he wouldn't have to write memo's to correct their actions....

12:00 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Here we go again... Somebody please make up my mind!!!!!

Just to let everyone know, Dale did know about the old memo. I remember when I was having a problem with a visitor about us not towing his boat. I confirmed it with Dale. And he answered my question and I went back to work.

Now all of a sudden a VIP gets mad and goes to Dale and things are back the way they were?!! Gee, what happened to all the other complaints from other visitors? Apparently they don't count. But heaven forbid that we should piss off a VIP!!!

Isn't Lake Mead a water park and don't rangers help visitors? Is that not part of their duties? Why call out a VIP unless they are absolutely needed? Because a ranger (Billie Shott) didn't want to go out on the water and work!!

Don't get me wrong I think VIP's are part of the backbone of the park but LE rangers should take care of business WITH the assistance of the VIP.

I think that we should hold off a little longer about telling the dark side about this blog. They think that because FOP deleted everything that we have no avenue to vent on. Let this go a little while longer and then let it leak out. They'll go in and read everything in here and then they'll try and justify their decisions. Should make for good reading.

We have policies in place to help park visitors.

Rangers cannot do it all. Rangers need help. We should help each other. VIP’s help lake mead employees every day.

If Dale has a concern, he should talk to the field staff. Stop listening to bad managers, who make policy behind his back. That is what got him into trouble in the first place.

Why does Dale not understand this and everything else going bad at Lake Mead is happening because of the dark side and their attempt to rule the world.

It's nice to see some familiar faces in here. I think we should keep the blog away from management for a while. If we keep posting our observations for all of us to see we will all have the same information to use as needed. I've been in the hot seat more then once and have recieved paper for my file and have had time off as well. My name showed up in the FOP Web Site and a few individuals supported me on their Web Site which was really nice. Now it's all gone why did that happen? I thought the FOP site was untouchable. I guessed wrong.

So here is my observation from a small little town. In the year of 2004 the Hinson's were having vehicle problems. They were down to one pov Mary had to go to work and get Tyler to school as well. Mary pulled into the parking lot across from the school in a White Expedition in uniform w/ gunbelt and walks her son to school like a good mom should do. Mary walks back to the Expedition and as she reaches the Expedition does a little look over both shoulders to see if anybody is watching her and then climbs in and drives to work at HQ. A short time later Scott comes to HQ in the pov and picks up his White Expedition with the "Nevada License Plates" because it is his assigned patrol vehicle as a special agent.

You can't fart in Boulder City with out three people seeing it.

I would love to see how Mary would justify driving her son to school in a government vehicle with cold tags when they still had one pov running....to the hospital/ER, popped a tooth get to the dentist even take their dog to the vet with an emergency. I would be ok with that.

The charge "Misuse of a Government Vehicle for personal use" for Scott and Mary. What is the punishment per the regulations?? I think 15 to 30 days off with no pay sounds good to start with for me. I would even give Mary a little respect if she took the punishment but I know she never will. Mary has shown her colors and the rules that we live by do not apply to her and never will again.

I wonder what her Dad (a good man) would say to her about that???

10:57 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Per 43 CFR, willful misuse of a government vehicle requires a MANDATORY 30 days suspension without pay. A former Boulder Beach ranger was hit with this penalty in 1997. The park administrative officer, on the other hand, used a government vehicle to commute to jury duty. He was charged with misuse of government PROPERTY and received only a letter of reprimand. Working in the Death Star has its advantages.

5:12 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

And, dont forget Henry G., the head of procurement, getting a DUI in a goverment vehicle, while on duty. I think he got 1 week w/o pay.

It never ends.

9:32 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Joe Hayes and John Black both got the "mandatory" 30 days off without pay for alleged misuse of government vehicle. Dale told them "My hands are tied; 43 CFR mandates 30 days without pay"....(unless, of course, you're in management, and then we'll find another statute that unties our hands). What a world class hypocrite he is.

While at Cottonwood, Steve Martin disobeyed a direct order from Dale and went on an extended backcountry patrol in the government Humvee. He rolled the Humvee and DR Patterson and Glen Anderson spent the next day recovering the vehicle. Patterson's incident report found Martin at fault with $500 damage to the vehicle. Because Martin's dad was Jim Martin, CR at HAVO and a good friend of Dale's, Steve received NO punishment.

Former Asst. Chief Bud Inman, while off duty, took his grandson for a joy ride in a Willow Beach patrol boat. They had a nice trip to Hoover Dam. Upon returning to Willow Beach, Bud dropped his NPS radio overboard. Kevin Hendricks was called to don his scuba gear and retrieve the radio, which he did. The $1100 radio was a total loss. Bud was not punished, and did not have to pay for the radio.

What do you think the punishment would be for the average ranger who lacked these nice management connections?

Different rules for different people? Hmmmmmm.

Have you heard about the dispatcher (an ex-cop) and ranger who got in trouble for doing a ride-along? Funny - another dispatcher has ridden with her sister down at Cottonwood, but that's ok. No one gets in trouble. They are on the dark side....

It might, but the smartest thing you can do is get yourself legal insurance ASAP. Wright and Company (www.wrightandco.com) has a good plan, and the park will reimburse you for about 50% of the cost. Just bring your receipt to Susan Warner, and she'll issue you a check. If all LAME rangers had legal insurance, then you would find that management would be much more reluctant to take shots at you. They hate dealing with lawyers. The time to buy legal insurance is NOW, BEFORE you get in trouble. Take it from me, I've been there.

Venting about the injustices at LAME may make you feel a little better, but it won't change the power imbalance between management and the field rangers. Two things are needed: 1) a union representing LE rangers, and 2) legal insurance for all LE rangers. The union was fiercely fought and defeated by the NPS in 2001, but could still happen if enough rangers want it and are willing to do what it takes to make it happen. That said, it would take time, hard work, and sacrifice. On the other hand, legal insurance is almost instantly available to all at a relatively low cost and provides you significant protections against the slings and arrows of management. I worked at LAME for 12 years and saw many good rangers subjected to severe disiplinary actions and even terminations. I myself was the guest of honor at two Boards of Inquiry, and had to hire a lawyer. I didn't have legal insurance at the time, and so it cost me plenty. Let's just say my lawyer was able to buy a new Jeep. Unless you have lots of spare cash laying around, you need legal insurance. At Lake Mead, the biggest threat is not the bad guys at Boxcar Cove or Government Wash. You are trained and equipped for them. The biggest threat is the bad guys at HQ. Your tactics, weapons, and body armor will not protect you from them. For them you are easy pickings, like sheep in a lions den. You can level the playing field a great deal if you are smart enough to purchase legal insurance. I like Wright and Company (www.wrightandco.com) but any legal insurance plan that covers law enforcement officers for administrative, civil, and criminal charges is OK. No, I have no financial interest in this. Just friendly advice from someone who wished he had purchased this coverage before the shit hit the fan. I'm quite certain that Dale and Mary are hoping that you ignore my advice. It's your life and career. Hope you make the smart choice.

Tal leaving? Mary Leaving? Oh No say it isn't so? What will we do without them? We can't run this park without them. It'll fall apart.

Good Riddance. Go screw up another park somewhere.

Margaret getting the Boulder District Ranger job? She'll be in charge and over her sufficant other? I thought that was prohibited! I can foresee where that one will lead. 1) Someone needs to bring that to a higher authorities attention, maybe she won't get it, 2) Their little "friendship" won't last long.

Margaret can't even make a decision let alone run a district. She's screwed up Northsore district already and they want to put her down here wehere it's really busy? Stupid move.

But this park is known for making stupid decisions.

Does the insurance cover someone who is not law enforcement? Or in the 025 series.

Say you work in CRO office, dispatch, etc.?

6:01 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Yes, the insurance plan covers all federal employees, regardless of job description. At least that's true of Wright and Company's plan. Plus either $500,000 or $1 million liability in case you're sued and found liable. Forest Service firefighting officials are using this plan. Go to their site, www.wrightandco.com, click on liability, and check it out for yourself. The cost is less than $300/year, and half of that will be reimbursed by the government. You can also deduct it from your taxes. How can you lose?

6:38 AM

Where is Tal going? Just curious.
Is the fire getting too hot for him? The rangers at Boulder Beach will not tolerate Margaret....Marc Burt sure couldn't work with her.

10:31 AM

It does not matter if Margaret can do the job or not, It is a GS-12 position and allows her to following in her mentor foot steps: Mary.

The Boulder position get her grade increase and allows her to move up the ladder just like Mary.

Margaret’s goal is not to be a good leader but help destroy several park ranger careers at Boulder District just like she did with Bill.

Tal is waiting for the news concerning the chief Ranger job in Hawaii. He should know early this week.

The questions about Margaret allowed to supervising her other half is: does the NPS acknowledge such relationships if not then, no problem with supervising.

3:54 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Margaret cant apply to the BBDR job because she has questionable statements in her application. If she removes them, it will prove she lied, if she doesn't it will show cover-up, and even she is not stupid enough to attempt it again while the heat is on.

And, to whomever said mary is driving scott's work vehicle for personal reasons needs to quit BSing here and draft a letter to GSA, or whomever manages vehicles that is not at this park, and not part of their crowd. The more people outside the park putting pressure on them the better off everyone will be..

Oh, and if you really want to get their attention you are gonna have to post more dirt, lots of it.

Reading inside the NPS, NPS papers and morning report and I notice that the Park Service supports veterans. On a different level, Lake Mead does not support any veterans. Look at the applicants I know of at least 5 veterans who have applied for jobs at Lake Mead and have been pass over for less qualified persons.

This should upset all of us working in the National Park Service. These man and women have served their country beyond just working at a government job (Park Service).

In the last weeks, I have seen several miss uses of government vehicles from the dark side.

During the EMT refresher, patrol vehicle left at Boulder Ranger station while the operator went out on the town with Lake Mead higher ups. Everyone has to eat right. The problem is later that night they drive back to their home over 20 miles away in their patrol vehicle. Not on duty not in uniform, what did they have to drink? What if something would have happen. Their in training from 8 to 4 not on duty after 8:pm.

One of Lake Mead finest supervisors takes their Government vehicle to EMT refresher when off duty. The catch is their not in the week long class they only attended the one day for CEU and then came back in uniform and went to work. They live close enough to walk.

If anyone else did this, they would have been in trouble.

All this talk about union and stovepipe will not help, sorry to say. At the present time, Lake Mead has about 42 Rangers. There are only 5 field rangers who do not comply with the dark side. If anyone started talking about unionizing again at Lake Mead, it would be overheard and taken straight to HQ. Never going to happen in these conditions at Lake Mead.

As for stove piping I agree with it. However If you did take the superintend and other civilians out of the equations, that is one of those thing that has been helping the field rangers a little. I do not agree with the superintend, however he and several so-called civilians have put pressure on LE upper management at Lake Mead. With stove piping, no one would know what is going on around Lake Mead and only the LE upper Management would have control over what is going on.

The third way is to get yourself covered with a good legal insurance plan. No one has to know; it's just between you and the insurer, so you needn't fear the dark side so much. Or you could shout it from the rooftops, if you think that might persuade management not to mess with you. Either way, if you submit your receipt to Susan Warner, she will reimburse you about half. Or if you're really paranoid, just buy the coverage and don't submit a claim or tell anyone. Then, if management decides to slice and dice you, you can inform them that "you will hearing from my lawyer", and then watch the pained expressions on their faces. You don't work without body armor, do you? Working without legal insurance is just about as stupid.

Line Supervision folks! You may think the Supt. is helping your situation but I have known Dickenson since he was the Assistant Supt shortly after he burned his Rangers at the shooting near Big South Fork. He is not a LE Friendly person. With line Supervision, everyone reports to someone with a badge and gun. I cannot think of a better chain of command!!

With all of the collateral duties that we perform and trying to maintain our certifications it's a royal bitch to get to enough training sessions to stay currant. While living in the park I have shown up off duty in civies and attended classes with a government ride, my past supervisors never said a thing because they knew it was job related and I was being dedicated to my job and carrer field. I just worked the training time as OT or comp time for later use. I don't see this one as mis-use

Hey Guys:

Randy Neal here . . .

My best advice is get the insurance. Also: 1) I'm not sure what restrictions the individual plans put on who you can hire - some will just reimburse you for reasonable attorney fees and allow you your choice. Others will assign lawyers of their choice. 2) Make sure the policy gives you legal defense on administrative matters as well as civil and criminal. 3) Be careful to make sure it's not just a civil liability insurance, but one that provides legal defense as well.

If anyone has any other questions, I'm at rneallaw@att.net.

P.S. I haven't posted anonymously here or the FOP website so I promise that previous blog was not an advertisement.

Be Safe!

Why don't you leave? No one is holding you there? Lake Mead has been that way long before most of you arrived on its shores. It seems to ebb and flow, good and bad, and will continue to cycle long after you have moved down the road. My suggestion to you that complain it to leave. There are greener pastures out there.

10:28 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Yes there is someone holding some of us here (family & friends). Lake Mead has not been that way before we arrived on its shores. Lake Mead was a great place to work and live. No problems with clicks, hiring practices, and bad management. Even the Chief Ranger was part of the team. Your rights it will continue to cycle after most of us have leave. However, someone needs to stand up for what is right. After we leave the area, you and others will still be here and WE had hoped to leave Lake Mead better then we found it.

3:03 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Why don't we leave? Basically - for several reasons. 1. We do NOT want people like that to take over a decent place. 2. We want to stop people like they are. Didn't we all at some stage of our career want to help people, help society, help others? Running when the "dark side" is in control, is exactly what THEY want. As an aside - some of us are trying to get out, but when references are checked, somehow they are not very good.......

Lake Mead is a great place, great housing, great location, lots of action. People who love it shouldn't have to leave. But, it is alot better than having to witness corruption on a daily basis. In my time at LAME, I have witnessed the CR, DCR (both of them), several SA and several supervisors LIE, outright lie, and about significant events. I have seen an SA and Supv racially profile and doctor proceedure in order top make DUI arrests. I have seen 2 sups carry on an affair while living with someone else. I have seen sups lie about MVA's, boating accidents, and diving accidents. It is not enough to actually have to work in this place and be treated unequally, but to get sucked into the corruption is more than I can take. I am guilty by association, and it makes me sick. Trying to get out, You betcha, faster than you can imagine. Easy to do, no, no body wants lake mead rangers because of the corruption, hard core LE attitude and civil liability.

Got news for you all, there has always been a dark side at Lake Mead.

Tommy Valenta, minutes after his shooting was locked in the back of a patrol car and told not to speak to anyone.

Do any of you remember Bud Inman? He makes MH look like a Girl Scout!

The bottom line is that the National Park Service can't handle what happens at Lake Mead. They hire people like MH to smooth things over and not call attention to the Scum and Assholes that visit Lake Mead every day.

God Bless the BB Rangers for taking care of business!!!!

Blogger Park Ranger said...

I checked with Wright&CO. They do assign attorneys to your case. They also handle admin. actions. If they receive your app. after the 15th you won't be covered till the next month.

So do we have enough for a union? If we do, could we get one? With what happened last time I doubt it. Just doing the math I don't think we have the numbers for our side.

So where does this leave us. We have seen numerous investigations, with no results, we have seen the news, with no results.

I guess what I am getting at is, we are getting shafted, we need to stop complaining, organize and show an united front. How do we do this. No idea. But it is easier to fight with a group than by yourself.

9:05 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

A union is indeed the best protection. But getting there is not easy. Having worked on organizing at Lake Mead in 2000-2001, I can tell you that trying to get rangers to work as a group is like herding cats. The NPS will fight any union attempt, and the decision by the NLRA in 2001 will probably make it more difficult. I say get insurance coverage, per Randy Neal's advice. Wright and Co. uses a Washington DC law firm that specializes in federal employment and law enforcement issues, and if they need to travel to Lake Mead, Wright&Co. pays for their travel expenses. Conditions might eventually improve for forming a union, but in the meantime, get insurance coverage. If you can find a plan comparable or better than Wright and Co., then get it. See Randy's earlier post and contact him if you have another plan in mind. He'll tell you if he thinks it stacks up.

As for unions.... I have worked at a park with the AFGE union. Totally worthless. Don't think unions will let you do anything and get away with it. They only support you if you do everything right, document everything and have an air tight case. The case with AFGE, they liked the dues and that was about it. A union only works if everyone is on board, there are decent shop stewards, and the union is strong. As long as employees do the right thing, the next best thing is to grieve if management is corrupt.

Same thing applies to the FOP, I had one of the main lodge officers tell me not to say who I talked to since he was "a hard working ranger". After that no more dues to the FOP.

Bottom line they will only support you if you do everything right, follow all sops, regs, etc., document everything, and have a more than solid case.

As for unethical supervisors.... Document everything, save all important e mails, follow all regs, SOP's, do everything right. Your unethical supervisors will trip themselves up sooner or later and have to deal with the consequences.

Stay united, positive and remeber to enjoy life, Lake Mead and the NPS are just a job not your whole life!!!

No matter where you work there are corrupt people.

The old adage "there always a bad apple in every barrel" . You must see past all that and see the Lake Mead can be a great place to work if management would just let people do their job. I know that some managers are not to be trusted ie. MB. "Forgive them for they know not what they do". Just watch yourselves around them.

As for the dark side.... Wouldn't that be giving some people too much credit? To be a "dark side" they would have to know what they are doing first! Then they would have to plan. When was the last time that happened???

Please come to the retirement party for Bill Collup (ranger at Lake Mead for 17 years, last 14 at Overton Beach). Margaret finally got around to planning it for Thursday, Jan. 5th at 1:00 pm, at Carley's Restaurant in Overton, Nv. We haven't officially gotten the invitation from Margaret, so I wouldn't say it is "written in stone". I think Margaret is afraid to face the truth or Bill. Bill would love to see everyone and catch up on all the latest stuff. He misses being a ranger and misses everything the job entailed. Just had to go because the support wasn't there and the corruption was......He would like to hear some well-wishes and not the bitter taste, scorn, and humiliation that the upper "you-know-who's" left him with.

Greetings to my friends at Lake Mead and all Lake Mead rangers.

This is Joe Hayes. I've previously posted anonymously and recommended that everyone get covered by professional liability insurance. As some of you know, I retired 6(c) in 2003 after 12 years at LAME in LE (WB,CC,and BB), and a few years as fire cache manager. I went through 2 Boards of Inquiry, lost my commission twice, and won it back twice. I am now happily retired and rarely think of the NPS anymore, but I do think about my fellow rangers and care about their welfare. While at LAME, I got worked over pretty well by Dale, Bud, and Bill D. It was the most difficult time in my life. I thought I was insured, but was not. So I ended up spending $20,000 of my savings to pay for a local lawyer to defend me and keep me from getting fired. This is money I sure could have used for many other things. You may think this can't happen to you but you're very wrong. It can happen to anyone, and suddenly, and sometimes when you know you are innocent. My message to all Lake Mead LE rangers is: Please don't be stupid. Don't play Russian roulette with your life, family, savings, and career. Just ask Mindy L., or Bill C., or John B., or Art if you don't believe me. Professional liability insurance is ESSENTIAL for anyone in law enforcement. All LAME rangers need to have it, with or without a union. I think Wright and Company has the best coverage by far, and I've shopped around. If you don't like them, then please get covered with a comparable plan, if you can find it. It's very foolish to do otherwise.

There, I've said my piece and will not bother you anymore. I promise you that I have no financial interest in this. I only want to help my fellow rangers and pass on some advice which I gained from hard experience. Make your own choice. If you have any questions you can contact me at:

jth815@earthlink.net

Best of luck and be safe.

Joe

To Bill Collup let's get the story right. The last months of your employment at Lake Mead North Shore you thought you were above the law, you threatened some employees at Echo Bay and they, not Margret fought back with letters to the superintendent. who ever you are,

That is bull crap. Bill never threatened any employees. Certain people were spreading falsehoods, lies, ect. about him and he wanted to stop the "defamation" and rumors that were going around. Yes, he did want to talk to the head of Forever Resorts (who he knows very well), to stop the rampant rumors about him. It was never his intention to threaten anyone's job......anybody that knows Bill, knows that. He had and still has most of the support from Echo Bay employees....they are glad that certain people (one of them Frank, who has a terrible reputation at Overton Beach and quit Echo Bay), and the other employee who was disgruntled about his job and quit also. By the way, Frank is spreading the rumor in town now that Bill threatened his life, which is so much bull and so untrue....Everyone in the community who knows Bill, and most of the people do support him, know that Bill wouldn't do that.....so whoever you are, you are in the minority and Bill retired with his head held high, his integrity in place, and his honesty upheld....Bill defended himself against all these stupid allocations and most believed him and he retired because he did not want to work with "snakes" and unethical people. I applaud him for that!!!!

Well now the dark side has this blog. Let's see if we all can figure out who is posting from the dark side? Shall we?

Hope eveyone had a Merry Christmas and yes it's still Merry Christmas to me, not Happy Holidays.

Frank you sound like you have a problem with people who are well liked. And Bill must have befriended you when you were alone in this world. Now he's threatnening you? What's the matter don't you have any friends? Are you just taking your frustations out on a super nice guy that would do anything in the world for you? Are you mad because he wouldn't do something illegal for you? Get a life Frank and just remember what goes around comes around twice fold.

Since Tal is leaving (yeah!) Does this mean that Margaret is moving to Boulder Beach as the district ranger down there? It was said earlier in this blog that Margaret can't go because she'll be supervising her other half. well did you folks know that she and mona went to Hawaii and got married? That's why they wear rings now! Also stated was that if she applies for it she'll be falsifying her app.

Didn't she already do that and get a district rangers job? Let's hope that the dark side reads this and thinks a little more clearly when replacing Tal. Try letting one of the good rangers at Boulder Beach try for it. we need some balance of good and evil somewhere.

Frank, so it is you. Like I said before, Bill didn't answer you and your worthless comments. He doesn't even look at this blog. And if he did, he wouldn't respond. I just know him very well. I also know about all the lies you have spread about him for years....Bill never acted "above the law", he enforced it well and knew how to do it in the best, professional way....He is highly respected by many and many miss his "rangering".

He certainly would have gotten his job and car back. And he wouldn't have bothered to have anything to do with you.....The park was trying to find that he was "mentally ill" (due to his grieving) or had a physical problem. They never found either. But, because he was close to retirement anyway, he chose to retire....He didn't want to put himself thru the degradation or stress or his family thru the crap the park was doling out to him anymore so he left......He has all his friends (the ones that matter anyway) in tact and many from Echo Bay and Overton Beach still talk to him......they told him that you quit. I was told that you were a "handyman" in Overton.....I may have not gotten the story right about that.....It sounds like you need to get a life.

Who gave you this blog address anyway. Was it Margaret?

Everyone stay calm. Frank and Bill this is not a place to air your personal dirty laundry. Right now, neither of you sounds respectable, sane, or reasonable. Think twice before you post. This is not a pissing match. These are just my personal opinions, truth, and what I know about Bill and Frank.

Once again, Bill has nothing to do with writing these comments......He is a good man, will always be known as the best ranger and is trying to get on with his life......Please come to the retirement party and celebrate the good times and the dedication he gave to the Park Service.....He would love to see you.

If you acted the same way to any other real lake mead law enforcement ranger like you did Bill (except your buddy and pal MG & MH) any lake mead employee in their right mind would have told you shut up and grow up. And to play games behind someone’s back like you did. You should be ashamed of yourself. I have no idea who Frank is, but I do know that he has an inflated sense of worth. He was just the catlylist in this sharade. Same thing happened to Mindy, some ass complained he shouldn't have gotten a ticket and they started a regional investigation. Not that they cared, but because they were looking for anything to start the firing in motion. What is a gross injustice is that they claimed to be charging BC with a crime, and when asked by his attorney what the crime was, no one could say. There response, "its complicated". To the best of my knowldge they still have not provided a charge, and their tactics (LAME SAC, SA, and the NPS IA) are being investigated by the IG.

Unfortunately this crap is just the tip of the iceberg, if you folks only knew what really was going on you would shit the proverbial brick.

Did BC do anything wrong, probably not, but when LAME is ready for you to go, you go, and they empower idiots like Frank who think they are doing the world some good by helping mgmt screw innocent people with less than a year to retire.

I like what you wrote. My sentiments exactly about the park. BC was never found to have committed a crime, should not have been on light-duty for so long and was never found to have a physical problem that would prohibit him from doing his job.

They just wanted to create an environment that was impossible for him to work in and try to make him crack under pressure.....He didn't. He just didn't want his family subjected to it anymore. A lot of things were done underhanded and probably not within the law......who wants to support corruption?

The advantage of this blog is that we all use the same logon and password, its sponsored by Google (a company that will defend to the death privacy), and although many of us would say the same things publicly, we are allowed to retain the secret of our identity in postings on this blog.

You know I never had a bad thought about Newt Sikes as the Chief Ranger........for the kiddies in the Blog he was the previous Chief Ranger before Dale A. I used to think it was funny when he would pause before he spoke about something happening in the field or when he would roll up on scene at a large event and would say "Wella....are you doing Ok Ranger"

Newt was very much an old school Ranger. You made friends with your co-workers and you made friends with the people that you see everyday or returning visitors back to the park from the last weekend or last year.

A hand shake and a greeting held more power of trust and confidence to visitors and co-workers then what's happening today in our park. Can you say first generation Community Policing.

There will allways be co-workers moving to fast and will back stab a co-worker for their own enjoyment or pomotional gain. But to last in this career field you have to become someone that everyone can trust.

The old school Ranger's ways are clashing with the new school Ranger's. The old school Ranger's that I learned from are now gone. Now we have a fresh group of co-workers from top to bottom that don't believe in trust or using or learning an individuals skills to make them better.

To be a better supervisor you have to learn from the people that you are supervising. To walk in and try to re-create the wheel is a waste of time. It only shows that some of the new supervisors are not ready to be promoted or they are being promoted because of their sex or are considered a minority. I would be upset with the people that promoted me if that's how I was being viewed for promotion.

If you stay in this career field you will change no matter what. When you are surrounded by death, shit bags and the lower level of humanity it will drag you down. Since we don't get many radio calls saying "Unit 2 go see the happy family in the Campground @site #1."

With the support of family, spouses and good friends it will keep you alive and you won't get lost in the void.

Merry Christmas to all and let's hope for a stronger safer 2006

If you talk to past Echo Bay Fire VIP's, they got a lot of misinformation and many things were said that were untrue about BC....some things coming from Frank and MG. BC was the only IC there and no one else had past Level II fire training.......

The "Old School", "Buck Ranger" is gone. The new rangers have a totally different viewpoint and techniques in handling law enforcement situations and don't care if the park visitor has a good experience or not. Of course, I am not saying that there are not good, caring, top-notch rangers still working at Lake Mead.......There are and they are still good friends of mine...Hang in there guys!!! Does it bother anyone other than me that the people on the "dark side" at BB all have one habit known and accepted by the people at HQ and practiced by the shift supervisors and the rest of their buddies?

The habit is - wait until there is about 90 minutes left on your shift, go looking for some dirtball type of car (usually with hispanic's in it), stop them on some half-assed violation, and get a DUI arrest. LOVE THAT OVERTIME!!!! Once, twice, its all understandable but once or twice a week? Since day one? Come on folks, other people aren't that dumb.... People notice, people talk....

Look who is talking! Instead of doing something that would make your mother and friends proud of you by making the ethical right choice standing up for others, you’re sitting and reading this laughing your butt off.

You’re a cowardly fool. Never doing anything first. Never making a decision on your own without being told what to do and say, so you will not get into trouble. Never standing up for others.

As a leader never leading by example but always following others. Never provide any type of training to help others, due to your lack of knowledge or experience. So you’re nothing to us. Sooner or later your lies will be discovered.

As the accusations go, keep laughing. Everyone knows what is true and what is not. This is a very good idea.

And, if too many of the idiots get ahold of this, then switch to yet another blog site.

I don't blame the FOP for taking this off their site. It's their site, and hosting a gossip column isn't the most professional thing in the world. If there are specific allegations of wrongdoing, then bring them forward to the FOP, IG, or other responsible authorities. But it's not a responsible thing for the FOP to act as a conduit for unverifiable public gossip.

That being said, this IS.

What's happened at Lake Mead is what happens when a system is corrupted.

Corrupt means two standards, one for the annointed, and one for the benighted. At LAME, the annointed means FOD -- friends of Dale.

If you don't kiss the ring, suck up, or brown nose, and join the clan of the black hood, you are not of the annointed class.

What went wrong was the cult of the SET team -- letting one person create an empire for over a decade. Letting one person misappropriate funds budgeted for park operations and assign it to SET team operations (should have turned that into the IG, but I didn't).

When only a chosen few get seleted for assignments, get sent out of park for training, get sent out for fires -- the result is bound to be the destruction of morale.

Here's a lesson from basic supervision, 101. You are the supervisor of ALL employees, not just your friends. You need to be fair. If you have an employee you think is working below potential, you need to work with them to improve -- coaching, encouraging etc. Not ignoring, belittling, etc. Yes, if somebody is incompetent, fire them. But this is the federal system -- if somebody has put in years upon years of good service, the have a claim to their job. You need to work with them before you start working against them.

Not at Lake Mead. If you aren't in the cult of the black hood, you are and outsider and are shunned. Period. There is no hope for you.

There is never an attempt to reach out. Those in the cult who break the rules see no consequence, except promotion. Those outside the cult who break the rules face swift and immediate punishment.

With Dale retiring, there is a perfect opportunity for change.

Mary needs to go somewhere else. But she's stuck. There is nowhere she can go, because there is noplace Scott can go. His career ladder is over in the NPS.

The only thing worse than a Mary Inman hoping to be chief is a Mary Inman who has been denied the chief's job. She will lash out at everyone, even worse than now. She can't move, because Scott can't move. GS-13 with 25% leap -- he's pulling down over 105 thousand a year. She's pulling near 80.

The best hope is to make it very difficult for the park to hire Mary as chief. How? I'd start a petition with the Superintendent, and send it to region, and the local newspaper. End the horror.

And for all of you over 40s who are getting passed over in favor of a younger crowd -- you are in a protected class, and you are being discriminated against because of your age. Wake up, smell the coffee, file.

Before Mary gets a chief job at a big park, she needs to go to a small park and demonstrate her abilty to build a team -- something she never did in any supervisory position at LAME. That means Scott needs to go to a supervisor job in another part of the country.

And a note to other LAME supervisors: Stop sleeping with your employees, stop marrying your employees -- hello hostile work environment.

Guys, I have read some of the posted e-mails from you'all, both from the FOP site and now this blog. I have been waiting to add in, mostly because I don't know if I could add anything substantial. But enough already. What the hell do you guys talk about at work. Ya this blog is great, when it is used to clense not as a pacifier. I feel for your plight but have limited sympathy. My park is no better. We have serious issues too. I am proud to have worked at LAME. I am proud to have worked beside you. Those long boat tows, changing into turnouts for a dumpster fire and then back into that comfortable vest. Peaking into families lives during their time of crisis. My co-workers got me thru most shifts, even if they didn't know it and I have only respected one of my supervisors. But this is not limited to the Park Service. I remember taking a phsyc test for a fire department. They werent testing to see if I was crazy. They were testing to see if I fit into that work group. Well I didn't. I guess they don't like neurotic public servants. The thing I would like to say most is, pls stay positive. You are in the position of either holding your brother or sister up or pulling them down. Remember those rangers that were told; here's your badge and your gun now go out and patrol. Well those rangers are now supervisors. They need just as much help from us now as they did when they were send out with little guidance back then. Those who have not sinned throw the first stone.

Long time ago...

Hi folks. I was a seasonal way back in 1990. LE was still a seasonal role and I enjoyed the work but from the posts on the board nothing has changed. Politics are the same...and I even recognize some of the names! Anyway, I hear the frustration but it is the same as it ever was. You might think of tackling this from another angle.

One thing about being permanent is they really can't screw with you as long as you show up on time and don't break a policy. So, do the minimum and use the time to enhance yourself. That means signing up for every training seminar and certification that takes you out of the NRA. Why is that important? You meet new contacts that can actually enhance your career beyond your day to day interaction on any patrol route.

I spent my early career and education preparing myself for a career in LE service. What happened is I changed my day to day and am no longer associated with LE at all. Was that my intent? Nah, but I'm healthier, happier and wealthier because of it. If you want to make more $ you have to break the cycle of fighting management. They don't care. Never have and never will.

Get your certificates, meet lots of people while doing that and become an expert and sell your services. Consult for other agencies and keep your day job.

You're not going to change the way it is...so change the way you are and take advantage of all that you can. It is like working out. You can avoid it and get fat or do the minimum exercise and stay the way you are or do it 5 days a week and have people comment on great you look. Your brain is a muscle so go use it!

I'm off the soap box. I appreciate all that you do because I've been there too.

Sincerely a once overworked, under paid, over looked individual who actually thought the govt cared too!

Get your certificates, etc?

I like your idea and attitude, however, a lot of what you are saying does not apply to LAME at the present. Training for the people that are not on the "dark side" is almost non-existent. The Dark Siders are made aware of training and classes that most of us never hear about, and/or when we request training, attending conferences etc, that answer is usually - "We will get back to you" and when they do -"Oh, sorry - due to staffing requirements......." or "Oh, we are sending "Insert Dark Siders Name" to that.

You do have a great attitude. I wish that so many of us didn't have to identify with the "downtrodden and browbeaten", but that is our reality........

Greetings and Happy New Year from a former BB LE Ranger. I enjoyed reading the posts and wish the best for all of you at LAME. I left the NPS 11 years ago when I realized that the agency as a whole was not fair in hiring, IE the “good old boy system”. I left as a GS9 and three years later I was promoted to GS 1811-13 with my current agency. A whole different world in my agency. I STONGLY recommend that those that are being treated un fairly leave the NPS as there are better jobs out there.

7:10 AM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

I have been here quite a while and agree with this last posting. If you want to get promoted WITHOUT being on the dark side, then you need to go to another agency. But......

From what I understand is this is not just at Lake Mead. I have made a lot of friends over the years working here and some of them are even in the regional office. Yes I have told them what is going on here. And they are looking into it.

I have seen too many good rangers leave the park service for another agency because we treat, compentant, idealist, and eager rangers that want to make a difference, like crap.

Like I said I have been here (at Lake Mead) a very long time. What most of these enteries are saying is the truth. I have seen it and/or been there through most of it.

When a higher up (GS-11 and up) does something wrong it's usually swept under the rug. It has been since Newt Sikes was here. And it probably won't change.

I haven't left because I love Lake Mead. It's a great park and the days are never the same. There's always something new to learn.

Whoever did this blog is letting all of us vent our frustrations and in hopes that maybe the "dark side" will read this and think about what their actions are doing to the good rangers.

Come on "dark side" put yourself in the shoes of the rangers and others that you are screwing with and think about how you would like it if this was being done to you.

As far as I can figure there is a small minority of you whom have self-appointed yourselves as the "light side" as opposed to the "dark side". This is appropriate because all of you are snivelers of the worst sort and are, indeed, "light". You all are the type of people that "foul" a team with your incessant, behind the scenes sniveling (blogging). You would not be happy if the entire world was perfect, because you all thrive on imperfections and strife. You live well in that atmosphere and create it for others. You cloak your attributes in righteous indignation of those in power and influence constantly finding fault. There is a reason there are 35 or 40 other rangers who don't join you...not because they have "gone over to the dark side", but because you offer them nothing better...just more sniveling, strife and unhappiness. You are not an alternative...even to people who see that there are problems and try to solve them their own way, or another way. That is because you all find it easier to "classify" people who do not agree with you as sell-outs and you clearly make the case that anyone who does not agree with you is a sell out. So...why join you...you all represent a small portion of otherwise hard working folks who know what a ranger really is...something I believe you all never understood much less could achieve. So, why don't you take your acid elsewhere..."sit back and watch them fail"...because that is all your kind can do.. is sit back and snivel. You will never be, nor have you ever been, the kind that works within systems to better them. You find it easier to sit outside and snivel. Go do it somewhere else...somewhere out of the National Park System please.

Impressive writing and gathering of facts. Not sure what side your speaking out against from reading your different points of view. Fouling a team is a little confusing because I not sure what team there is only I or me no team on sides. A happy world is not the concern, a little part of Lake Mead is. What has change to make it not a happy place to work? Classify and selling out in the same sentence, with out referring to hiring practice. To those small portions of hard working folks who know what a ranger really is. Could you enlighten us all and tell us what a National Park Service Ranger really is on your next comment section so we could all achieve it. Which system you referring to “corruption, lying, or cheating” to be better in somewhere out of the National Park System.

"35 or 40 other rangers?" Wow, I haven't seen that kind of exaggeration since a recent application I reviewed from one of those "in power and authority." 35 or 40? Prove it. Your weakness is arrogance. You should be listening to those who were rangering back when your kind were "recruiting, selecting, supervising and managing" their 55 playmates in preschool. Believe it or not Lake Mead's veteran rangers have seen all kinds of new "teams" and ideas come and go in their decades of service. For you to desparage any of these ranger giants with your own idea of what a ranger is or should be indicates to me the depth of your delusional arrogance and ignorance. Deserved or not, you stand on the shoulders of these giants, much as I did when I worked at Boulder Beach. I came home safe every night because of what those rangers had accomplished - truly accomplished - not just what they could claim in title or on paper. I have been involved in using the "system" for change. There are those that can claim a great talent in manipulating that system to resist change - but they cannot claim that they did so honestly. Otherwise they would be open and disclose those things which they fight feverously to hide. They would hold up their actions to scrutiny instead of utilizing the back room to gain favors and special consideration. Finally they would recognize and listen to the experience of even those who intimidate them with superior experience and skills. Most people will allow themselves to be lead - few will allow themselves to be driven. And the best are leaving Lake Mead and the NPS - and that's nothing for the self-proclaimed "real rangers" to be proud of.

Comparability; hard working folks who know what a ranger really is so we all can achieve it.

Have been with the National Park Service for over 10+ years.

Went to a seasonal academy 8+ years ago.

Held a Level II Law Enforcement Commission as a seasonal ranger.

Worked 4 to 6 years as a seasonal before hired on full time.

Worked at 3+ different parks in the National Park Service system before hired on full time.

Received a Wildland firefighter red card and on the line for more then 21 days.

Qualified as a structural Fire fighter Level II.

Certified as a EMT.

Trained in NASAR Function of SAR.

Certified and tested as a NPS boat operator during day, night and extreme weather conditions prior to performing solo on the water.

Managed all of this prior to hiring on as a full time permanent ranger with the National Park Service.

The interesting part of all this is the managers know they are guilty of millions (MG style of exaggeration) of violations of law, policy, ethicics and plan morals. If they werent, they wouldn't give a rats ass about what is said on the FOP site or this one.

The managers are always trying to defend themselves and attack those who started and post on this site, and to me that lends an air of guilt. A "normal" person under the same circumstances who is not guilty of the allegations made against them would not be so defensive.

The only saving grace to all that has happened to several good rangers is, you can only lie, cheat and steal for so long before it finally catches up to you. And, the higher Mary, Scott et al. get, the bigger and harder the fall.

I predict 2006 is the year of change at LAME. I personally think some heads in management will role this year. With the handful of litigations pending Gary, Dale, Mary, Scott, and ???? will at some point be deposed. If that occurs they will have to answer all questions put to them and, they will finally be under oath. This is commonly refered to as a Lose-lose situation, and just thinking about the look on Mary's face when she gets caught in lie after lie after lie gives me a warm feeling inside.

To the comment re: 2006 is a year of change.

Mary and the rest of them under oath? Your point is??? They have lied, they will lie and they are going to lie. The oath has meaning to people that are "normal". The bulk of the "dark side" does NOT fit in that category....

There is a statue in Dale Antonich's Office and it is the Harry S. Yount Award. Since he received it, the award has become marked with stains of deceit, arrogance, lies, corruption, degredation, avorice, greed, and Godlessness. Every person that will receive, and has received that award must carry with it all of those stains. What he has done to that award will never go away and the stains will always remain. The eyes of Harry S. Yount are looking at Dale Antonich, and they will follow him wherever he goes.

Dale Antonich does not believe in God, nor does he believe in any kind of higher power. Dale Antonich believes in Dale Antonich; he believes that he is the center of the universe.

But in the end he will be on his knees, praying and asking forgiveness. I am afraid it will be too late for Dale Antonich. As for the others that have sold their souls for their jobs, they too will answer to gods wrath.

It sounds like the Leaders/supervisors of Lake Mead NRA need to go back and read their ETHICS manual & remember the oath they took.

A supervisor shall perform all duties impartially, without favor, affection, or ill will and without regard to status, sex, race, religion, political belief, or aspiration. Never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, animosities, or friendships to influence decisions.

HONESTY. Be truthful, do not cheat, lie, deceive, or act deviously. The supervisor will not engage in acts of corruption or bribery.

INTEGRITY. Do not be two-faced or unscrupulous or adopt an end justifies the means philosophy that ignores principles.

PROMISE KEEPING be worthy of trust.

FAIRNESS. Be fair and open-minded, be wiling to admit error and, where appropriate, change positions and beliefs, demonstrate a commitment to equal treatment of individuals, do not take undue advantage of another’s mistakes or adversities.

CARING FOR OTHERS. Be caring, avoid harming others.

RESPECT FOR OTHERS. Demonstrate respect; do not patronize, embarrass or demean.

PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE. Do not “win at any cost.”

ACCOUNTABILITY. Be accountable, accept responsibility for decisions, and for setting an example for others.

INTEREST OF OTHERS. Should not use the power and resources. Not to attain personal benefit or pursue any other private interest.

The overall tone of the new folks that the blog is just a bunch of complainers with no merit, but they're only hearing what managers want them to know. Not sure how to go about it except to encourage everyone to spend more time with the new guys, show them that the veteran rangers here are professional and skilled rangers not complainers and malcontents. If we don't do something pro-active quickly, management is going to cause an even wider divide in the division.

This is from John Black:

I was visiting the FOP site when I was referred to this chat room. Nice to see that Tom, Valenta is still out there, I enjoyed working with you Tom, your still a legend at Echo Bay, as I understand it. They forgot about me, but they will never forget you

After reading the messages, I noticed that my name was used on two occasions. I would humbly request that my permission is granted in the future. Its always nice to see what kind of light I am involved in.

As far as my 30 days off without pay is concerned, the facts surrounding the case of misuse of a government vehicle, were more extensive and intense than the
case involved in going to Jury Duty, which I understand resulted in a slap on the wrist, but less extensive than the use of a park boat to give personal, family, tours and loosing your park radio in the water as was the case involving the Assistant Chief Ranger, who is gone, at this time, and received absolute no punishment whatsoever.

I felt that the penalty as imposed by the governing official was steep, since it was my first offense in my entire career. So I hired an attorney through the FOP from Washington, who turned out to be as worthless as "nuts on a mule".
I would have been better off putting the $5000.00 on black or red at a casino. At least I would have had a chance.

The assistant chief ranger, at the time, wanted my head on a gate so bad that he would have done anything to see it through, however in the end(and I mean the very end) I did out last him, and through his endeavors acquired ABS (active bowel syndrome).

If you study the Merit System Rules and Regulations, you will find it is old and needs to be revised, it leaves so many loopholes that a governing official can do what ever he/she wants and be within the boundaries and limitations.

For me it could have been worse, the governing official along with the Personnel Officer met with me and my attorney, who I described earlier. The tone was set when my attorney was immediately put in her place by the governing official, and that was the end of her. However, the personnel officer tried to intervene by whispering some information into the ear of the governing official, which I heard, and would have increased my penalty. The governing official gave him a loud and stern NO, and then again a loud and stern NO after the insistance of the personnel officer, which I dont mind saying was the scum of the earth.

In the end I served my 30 days without further ado, and went back to work as cheerfully as possible.

I will also say that as far as the Assistant Chief Ranger was concerned that I had an excellent supervisor, that was also a part of SET. He went to bat for me many times against that Assistant Chief Ranger. He was and is a good man, and was very good to me.

Now as far as SET is concerned, I had a chance to be a part of these teams at the onset, my supervisor asked me if I wanted to go to the meeting and be a part of it, and I declined, my reason was simple: I had been to the SHOW, so why would I want to be a WEEKEND WARRIOR?

Even if I had taken the position, I would have left, because I would have refused to SELL OUT. My honesty, integrity and character are NOT FOR SALE, at any price. Anyone out there that knows me, knows what kind of person I am.

For those of you who are opposite of the "dark side", remember you are what Theodore Roosevelt had in mind when he formed the Park Service. You will survive and from your dilligence, the park service will return to its former glory, and will again. gain the respect of the nation and the world.

Watch each others backs, be safe.

Ok, lets get a few things straight about these predictions. While a year ago some of these might fly, right now EVERYONE is watching the park, and this web page. Buddies of mine at FLETC, WASO and PWRO are all watching this site to see what is being revealed, and how damaging it is. So, here is where I think you are wrong.

Marc is not smart enough to play the game, the guy is barely able to get his boating short on in the AM. Aside from Chris Largent who swore when Marc and Ed were beating down on him he would never become what they are (Oh, too late, he already has.). Aside from him, I don't think anyone sans J&T have lasted over a year. And in his own words "mary is gunning for me". So, no on Marc.

Margaret, NO! She has to overcome her questionable statements in her application, which is currently being investigated by the IG's office in conjunction with some other crimes thought to have occured in the park. And rumor has it that even people who are supposedly her friends and such are turning away from her. No one want to go down with a sinking whale.

Ok, Chris Reynolds, no offense Chris but you are a moron. And when you turned on your neighbor and gave questionable statements against them when they were being investigated for "fear of being retaliated against by management." Man, do you have no integrity. It is one think to be worthless because of what God gave you, or lack of in your case, but when you sell your soal to the devil, you have nothing. And, that is probably more than you deserve. He is another Marc . . not smart enough to be trusted in the elite club.

Any Mary, sweet lovable Mary. She has worn out her welcome. You cannot be the subject of countless investigations of misconduct and corruption, and become the Chief. Granted you can become the chief and have done those things, but if you are not smart enough or powerful enough to keep out of the limelight, you cannot be chief. Even Warshefski says NO.

But with that said I am sure there are people in the NPS alot worse than these 4, so them not being selcted might not be a blessing.

With that said, I bid adeu to FLETC, WASO, PWRO, LAME, and me fellow rangers of whom I say be safe and sound.

Message for Glen Anderson:

Dale's proctologist called. They found your head.

Loved your comment! Glen Anderson has been a "Master Butt-Kisser" for many years. The only time he legitimately applied for a job (always slid in the back door) was when he was a ranger at Cottonwood. The hiring practises at Lake Mead are so questionable! They definately need looked at....

The whole NPS needs to straighten out and a complete "Makeover".

I know it is hard now, especially if you are impatient like me, but you must always keep the faith that these people will eventually get theirs.

Look at Dale, the guy happily screwed anyone and everyone he could especially if that person didn't pretend to worship his very being. He has been abusing his staff for his whole career, and less than a year before he is set to retire his whole career goes up in flames. He is removed from his precious SET team, and made to retire. His reputation is shot, his family and friends embarrassed, the very mention of his name conjures up jokes and degredations. It seemed like he was untouchable, and then he becomes a disgrace and liability to all who know him. Rightly so.

It also sounds as tho Margaret and Marc are getting theirs. And God knows they BOTH deserve it.

And, in time, Mary and Scott will also suffer. I just hope we all live to see it.

Be safe out there, and watch your backs.

Blogger Park Ranger said...

Uh, you forgot to mention Dale took pleasure in screwing everyone, actually looked forward to it and then pretended he was on your side.

"I wish there was something I could do, but my hands are tied."

He took so much pleasure in it, now I am starting woulder if it was to make up for some inadequecies elsewhere. hhhmmmm.

(I know hard to believe but true) The sad part is he's now exporting that sad excuse for leadership to another park where the cancer can spread. A PARK RANGER is a person charged with protecting and preserving parkland, wilderness areas other natural resources.

In general, a RANGER is a keeper, guardian, or soldier who ranges over a region to protect the area or enforce the law.

PARK RANGERS perform a number of important functions in the protection of wildlands. Because they are the only persons around, park rangers must be very conscious of safety issues and may respond very differently from other emergency responders who have help near at hand. A number of other diverse tasks are performed by park rangers because they are the only persons around, ranging from routine maintenance through life-saving emergency response.

Security: Rangers check to see that gates are locked, that closed roads are not in use, that unauthorized persons keep out of closed or sensitive areas, and that authorized visitors are following park regulations. Many of these park regulations are intended to protect sensitive areas from ecological damage.

Law enforcement: Some rangers, particularly those employed by public agencies, have police powers and enforce laws in the wilderness. Park rangers sometimes carry firearms, particularly in remote areas or when engaged in deterring illegal hunting or poaching.

Information and public education: Rangers provide directions to visitors and sometimes act as tour guides or lecturers about the park's history or ecology. Rangers are expected to be experts in not only the geography of the areas they patrol, but also the animal and plant life.

Emergency response: Rangers are trained in wilderness first aid and participate in search and rescue to locate lost persons in the wilderness.

Firefighting: Rangers are often the first to spot forest fires and are often trained to engage in wildland firefighting. Rangers also enforce laws and regulations regarding campfires and other fires on park lands. In the face of a fire outside their control, rangers will call for help and evacuate persons from the area pending the arrival of additional firefighters.

Maintenance: Some rangers perform routine maintenance on facilities or equipment, especially in preparing for winter closures and spring re-openings. Rangers are often the first to discover vandalism or weather-related damage to roads or facilities.
Entertainment:

Apart from the abover eponsibilities, a RANGER is to entertain the park/game reserve visitors. He has to make sure they enjoy their visit. It is very important for the ranger to be polite, friendly, enthusiastic, sociable, and informative.
A typical ranger vehicle is a well-marked and heavily equipped off-road capable light truck ("pickup truck") equipped with the following items. The variety of equipment carried gives some idea of the many roles of the park ranger.

• a reliable radio or mobile telephone, often with a backup device for emergencies
• an electronic locator unit such as a GPS, in remote areas supplemented by an EPIRB for signaling for help
• detailed maps of the area protected and guidebooks about local flora and fauna
• a clipboard and paperwork used to document activities, including a daily patrol report, citation book, incident reports and maintenance reports
• informational handouts and maps to be given to visitors
• a collection of keys that open gates, locks and buildings scattered across the park or preserve
• personal survival equipment for an extended stay in the wilderness, including a backpack, tent and sleeping bag as well as fire-starting equipment
• a comprehensive first aid kit including supplies for response to trauma and vehicle accidents
• personal flashlight, folding pocket knife, multi-tool, handcuffs, chemical defense spray, defensive baton
• blankets, emergency food and water, and portable tarps or other shelters (for any persons rescued)
• hand tools including a shovel, axe, rake, Pulaski tool, crowbar, bolt cutter, and other miscellaneous tools
• a power winch for extricating stuck vehicles, with associated cables
• rope and life preserver for unassisted water rescue
• hand fire extinguishers, a backpack fire pump, a one inch (25 mm) diameter 50 foot (15 m) length of fire hose with a 50 to 150 US gallon (200 to 600 L) fire water tank and gasoline-powered reversible pump, fireproof turnout coat, and a self-rescue fire shelter
• firearms if appropriate to the area, often including a high-powered rifle with optical sights and a pump-action shotgun for close-range defense; park rangers engaged in police activities will often carry a pistol at all times in addition

• additional supplies of fuel and water as appropriate
These supplies are often augmented according to the geographic area and the local hazards. A park ranger in urban areas may carry less survival gear and more law enforcement equipment; park ranger in the desert will carry much more drinkable water, Skills required to be a park ranger include a profound interest in ecology and the wilderness, the ability to react quickly and appropriately to emergency situations, and the ability to work independently and alone for long periods of time, sometimes for days.

Ok, moron defending the moron:

1. Spelling and grammar don't come until 2nd grade, and why do you know a bunch of first graders you pervert.

2. Why does everyone always refer to it as a small minority. Over 50% equals a MAJORITY. While not everyone agrees with everything being said, I know for fact well more than 50% thinks there is corruption going on at LAME.

3. I dont know how you would be in a position to know what is false or not. Were you there??? I don't believe very many of the issues had multiple witnesses, and that is how they operate. Your assuming they are false is part of the problem.

4. "then you go out and call people my name"!!!!! Nice work, wonder who wrote this piece. (can you say moron?)

Contrary to what you pretend to believe revealing integrity and honor issues about a fellow officer is not unprofessional. Oh, but you already know that being one of the rangers who helped screw a supervisor because you were in fear of retaliation from mgmt.

Lets get down to the bare nuts here, give it up if your so damnn professional:

1. Do you think that there is NO corruption what so ever at LAME?

2. How many of the issues you claim are false allegations made on this site do you have 1st hand knowledge of?

3. Did you ever tell ANYONE you gave implicating information about AG (your neighbor) because you were in fear of getting in trouble by management/supervisors?

Oh, you are shy now. Put your career where your mouth is.

Someone hit on this earlier in the site, you only take offense to things you know are true, not the things you know are lies.

Oh, and by the way, YOU ARE A MORON.

I like this blog, yet I think you could better serve yourselves by grouping together, (maybe calling Randy for the 1K), and posting daily all that management does that is wrong or questionable. A sort of daily diary of management screw-ups. A daily mgmt diary blog.

Making personal attacks, even if they're possibly true is exactly what management wants as it distracts from attacks and allegations against them.

And just as advice, before you post a rebuttal to alegations against you, you might remember what the bible says. . . Let he who has no sin cast the first stone.

My question for Mr. Reynolds is:

Are you willing to go on the record (and this web blog) and say that you never said the reason you gave questionable testimony against Art was because you were afraid of retaliation (etc) from management or the likes?????????

I didn't think so.

5:57 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

Dear God: in your dribble you forgot to address the questions put to you.

But then why would you, as that might just give some credibility to this site and what is being said.

Heaven forbid you admit that you know nothing about which you speak in regards to the allegations made on this site. If you think you do, name one of the incidents in which you were present when it happened. Just one.

And it would be a sin if you actually had to admit that there was corruption at LAME both in the field and HQ, and that it is very possible CR did give questionable statements for fear of getting in trouble in AG's incident.

Nope, it is better to degrade those on this site, discount what is said, and defend that of which you know nothing.

Folks:

Tom is exactly correct; you must form a union!! This may be the right time to reinstitute Collective Bargaining again.

What ever the case, wheather its becoming a part of a powerful union that is already extablished or forming one of your own, it is time to get it done!!

Complaining about it will not solve anything-however I agree that it does relieve tension; and in some ways that is a good reason.

Everyone needs to, if you haven't already, start documenting everything-build your case. As you all know a case without evidence is worthless.

For some of you, if you think that the LEO has problems, go to work for Fee Collection for about six months; you will be glad to get back in the field!!

As far as Randy's $1000.00 is concerned; I feel that you (Randy) should pay me for having to work with you.

Bottom Line:

1. Document.

2. Build a legitimate case.

3. Establish a Union-there are
many of us out here that would
be glad to help you with it.

4. Establish and keep the Legal
Insurance. You will be very
glad that you did. It is so
little to pay for peace of
mind.

Be good to each other, and watch each others backs.

All the while pretnding not to notice the several times you have been called on the carpet for your own statements. Why do you expect others to give examples of misconduct when you wont even anonimously go on the record about your own opinion?? Here is you chance - put up or shut up.

Were you present during any of the incidents spoken of on this site?

Name something specific on this site that you know first hand is a lie.

Do you think LAME is free from corruption? Misconduct?

And about your neighbor, do you know for a fact he did not tell anyone the reason he gave questionable statements in a fellow rangers investigative report was because he was in fear of getting in trouble with Mgmt?

Several of us have applied for jobs here AND elsewhere.

The problem is we are competing against people whose claims are superhuman. For example, one of the ones selected for a job I applied for stated when they were a sub-district ranger at a park up north they "recruited, selected, supervised and managed 55 (not a typo FIFTY FIVE) seasonals" !?!?!? How can you compete with that, or more importantly how can you do that? And that is just the tip of the iceberg, there are several more statements that are blatantly impossible in that same application.

Worse than that is the fact that this was in their current supervisory application and LAME and NPS Internal Affairs know about it and have failed to act or even pretend to care.

If I recall correctly a false statement in a former ranger's seasonal application from several years back caused a suspended commission, and BOI, and termination.

Please God, since you're so wise, tell me how I can compete with people making such claims and get the hell outta here.

By the way, Glen, you have been selected 2005 Lake Mead Toady of the Year, with second place going to Bruce "the Flying Rat" Lenon, and third place to Marc Burt. You all worked very hard for this. I have also read with great interest the comments by the almighty suggesting that there is no evidence concerning the allegations listed in these blogs. I cannot speak to all of the allegations (especially the name-calling), but if you are sincerely seeking the truth in this matter, please contact me at rneallaw@att.net. The documentary evidence in these matters currently fills three bankers boxes in the corner of my office. I am happy to send you copies of the pertinent materials - so long as you cover the expense. On the other hand, the blog has taken on a life again after being very quiet for a while.

For those of you who are offended by the entries in this blog - tough. Don't log on and don't read it!! Name calling? snide comments? Accusations? Damn - it sounds like another typical day in Paradise....

For those of us who have been shat upon by the "dark side", I still believe this is an excellent place to discuss, plan, formulate options and work to stop them......

Leave LAME? Hell no... I have morals, integrity, a sense of honor to uphold. The "dark side" has lies, deceit, dishonor, and a complete lack of integrity.

Stand tall and "SUE" her and each of the investigators that become involved. This park has some major issues right now and she wants to go head hunting in your direction. Thank goodness Mary has her priority list in place.

Lake Mead management at it again, Mary Hinson spending hours investigating field rangers for making the park looks bad. What an oxymoron. How many hours did Lake Mead management spend on Mary, Dale, and others (dark side) continuation of making the NPS look bad?

Do not worry; all accounts go in Mary files on any ranger staff not on the dark side, so she can use it against you later. By the way, keeping records on employees is against the law and you as an employee can go and demand to see all files, your supervisors have on you, and they have to hand it over for you to see. If not and it comes up later, Oh boy or they in trouble.

As for another fiasco going on in the park with upper management. I hear Mary and all her little friends or trying to find out as much as they can about the blog and who is writing on it. My lips or sealed.

You remember those great employee Performance appraisal questionnaires we all had to do. Mary and her little band of want to be supervisors, or attacking some of or fellow rangers over what they wrote.

I do not know about you, If they spent as much time and effort on harassing some of the field staff and old timers maybe they would actually accomplish something good around here.

By the way for all you speed demands (dark side) out there. You are not above the law “Slow down” according to Lake Mead chief ranger; no one is above the law. Sorry I miss quoted; only dark side is above the law. Let me help out any new dark side ranger out there. It is easy to profile a NPS employee, their against all that is good and they speed. On the other hand, those lower class citizens who make their way through life day by day and just staying above the water. Maybe their cars do not look so good; maybe they do not dress as you do (dark side).

Cottonwood only has three rangers and both of the underlings are newbies who shouldn't have caused a black bag job to have been necessary. Also I'm dubious as to someone not having any expectation of privacy in their workplace government or not. Mary is far from an authority on federal law. She once pronounced that a citation was equivalent to an arrest and therefore gave the investigating officer the authority to search incident to arrest all persons and property at the scene. DOAH!! Coming from someone who did very little actual work much less arrests in the brief time she was a field ranger all of her pronouncements from on high should be looked at with a jaundiced eye. One can only hope this will be one more shovelfull of dirt on the grave Her Highness has been digging for herself.

Mary should take a real good look into her own affairs before accusing others of misconduct, and/or honesty, integrity and morality deficits.

Everyone has heard the stories about Scott and his SET team trips. Ever wonder why this guy is so happy to leave his wife and kids to go? Because they need the money? doubtful.

Eric 1 and our snooping supe have been engaging in morally questionable behavior since they were at FLETC. How is it a guy who lives with a woman he claims is his girlfirend, can sleep with another woman at the same time.

Eric 2 also has some questionable history at FLETC.

I guess it is true screw up move up. Or in these cases maybe some screwing down and sideways and . . .

If they want to start investigating our personal lives, they had better make damn sure their closets are spotless.

Employees having affairs has been a way of life in the NPS forever. We not only have the highest rate of assault, but the highest rate of divorce too.

If Scott, the Erics and others want to have affairs, I don't think it is any of our business. Do you honestly think this is a good way for their spouses to find out?

But, at the same time, if Mary is attempting to prosecute rangers for questionable questionable behavior outside of work, then she had better do it across the board to everyone, not just her enemies.

If were gonna let it all out, let's let it ALL out.

So, let me get this straight. Scott H, Eric 1, Eric 2, and Billy S. ALL violated this . . . ethical standard (if not the law), Mary Hinson knows about it, and has done NOTHING?

Then, she dares to question other's after hour relationships.

A question to you Mary!
Do you sleep at night?
Do you love you husband?
Children?
What do you think it will be like for your children if they pursue a NPS career? - - Oh, your the child of the corrupt hore with no conscience.

Those rangers that really knew Bill Collup personally and professionally, knew that he was honest, caring, knowledgeable, and very well liked. He was a "ranger's ranger". I think he had a pretty positive "history" at Lake Mead.......Stop slamming him! He went thru enough degradation, humilation, defammation of character, etc. before he retired because he wouldn't do any "dirty work" for corrupt district rangers.....He was squeaky clean but he got tired of the corruption.....They didn't wnat the truth to come out so he became the "fall guy"....And they used his "grief for his son" to let him go.....Despiccable!!!!

Ah...... the plot thickens.

It's fairly simple whats going on.

1. Old time Lake Mead rangers have a problem with management.

2. New Lake Mead Rangers love the place as long as they are on the "dark side".

3. Multiple old timers have posted here.

4. A few new folks have posted here.

5. Old folks are dissing the new folks

6. New folks are dissing the old folks.

7. The "dark side" as a collection of fools - have their heads so far up their asses, that they couldn't find it with both hands, a maglight and a mirror.

8. To Mary and the others on the "dark side" - may the farce be with you!!

9. The real God exists and the day of reckoning is coming.
Halleluah!!!

I'm glad your voice is still strong. I was told the same thing by a few folks at FLETC when I went in 1993 class of 9PT-306. Stay much longer at LAME and no one else will hire you. Thanks for the earlier response to the Gripentog comment by "Ranger in the Shadows". I've been here for about 15.5 years now in the same district. I still like my job and I have a little dirt on everybody after this length of time, but I won't be flying it here on the blog. I just watch all the bullshit and think to myself I wonder when they will get caught. Then I go back to work and do my own thing.

Be Good, Reggie

We are just letting the shit settle. Can't let all the cats out of the bag at once.

Illegal activity, morally offensive behavior, honesty and integrity issues, favorism probably enough for this week.

As I see names of the old timers come up in this blog, and knowing many of the problems going on at Mead now, it sure seems to me we had a lot more fun back then. That's a credit to you all (you know who you are).

Will be in Vegas 3/24/2006 through 3/31/2006 taking another tilt at the windmill. Drop me an e-mail if you want to get together.

I must agree with you, counselor. My best wishes to you, Tommy V., Reggie "D-Day" Regnell, John Black, Mindy Lane, Bill Collup and all the other fine rangers we served with. To all Lake Mead rangers: "Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito."

Joe, I loves the latin! But, for those who didn't go to Catholic school in the 1950's:

Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito (Yield not to misfortunes, but advance all the more boldly against them - Vergil)

On my own letterhead I have chosen:

Fiat Justitica et Veritas, ruat Caelum (Let Justice be done and truth prevail, though the heavens should fall).

I have not given up on such ideals. I should find no solace in the 91.6% or even the 99.9% unless I could claim the same.

God,

I find the fact that you will use quotes from this site, but only if they help make your case, ummm, interesting to say the least. After all you have said about this site not having any credibility etc, it suprises me to see you use it as a source of information/fact.

It is like the christians who translate the bible to fit their ideologies. Is that why you call yourself God?

You have never addressed the question about corruption at LAME? Or any of the others put to you. Why is that?

You by far have turned out to be the biggest hypocrit on this site.

And if life is sooo great at LAME, and 91 % of the rangers are on your side, why are you so afraid to reveal your name?

Maybe you are not the saintly person you say, and you are afraid of the dirt that will come out you?

Come out of the closet God, it is really nice weather when you are under the umbrella of mgmt.

John Black says:

God. I believe it is time that you took the mask off, and revealed yourself.

When I was an active Park Ranger, I always stood up for what was right, and against what was wrong. I wasnt afraid to be counted. I didnt need a SET team to feel safe.

When one of my fellow rangers was caught up in an XXX rated movie scandal, I stood up for him, not because of what he did-because I knew that some of the aspects were wrong; but because he was not treated with justice, he was not allowed to be innocent until proven guilty. Because he was not allowed due process of the law by management and the Chief Rangers Office. On the day of the hearing I was the only person that sat with him in the waiting room, the rest of the rangers were huddled in the breakroom with the Assistant Superintendent. I didnt support him for what he did, but because of the way he was treated.

America was built by people who were willing to sacrifice their very lives for what they believed in. America's greatness comes from hero's not from cowards.

God, show the world your face, show that you are pround of what you believe in by being counted and recognized.

Yes, Lake Mead has decided to give Art a BOI. I feel like it is retaliatory in nature and probably for the sole purpose that MSPB said what they did to him was WRONG. Basically they are sore losers and probably a little embarrassed - and for good reason.

And, the park has stuped to an all time low on this one. Not only is he not in an LE position, but, he is too old to even hold a commission!!! So why? exactly! It is your typical Lake Mead bullshit harassment we'll show you tactic.

And, for all you people who think that the allegations on this sight are exaggerations and lies and that management would never do anything like this, I challenge you to come up with one, 1, legitamate reason why he should be having a BOI. Just one &%$#^%* reason. Because I cant.

Have a good summer,

mindy

I think Lake Mead should apologize for what they did to Bill Collup too. What they did to him was wrong and incomprehensible...Deep down they know it was wrong but they would never admit it....They have no souls or conscience....They screwed with his life.....Shame on them!!!!

Remember our motto; if we don’t do anything, we can not get into trouble.

7:46 PM
Blogger Park Ranger said...

And whose motto is that?

You bitch because we do something, and bitch because we don't.

Let us see. If God knows Tommy, they are pre 9/11 and/or worked at HQ.

They are most likely a CI because few old school fieldies would side with management.

And, I am guessing that their server is from somewhere out east.

And, they are afraid to reveal their name because they would get another undeserved promotion and people would reveal their shortcomings on this site.

Only those afraid of their closets or retaliation post without a name. Ane per your own admissions GOD, you are above both.

Ok folks, pay attention....

You are all trained investigators. The post from god @ 7:46 PM the other night was not from GOD. The person signed in as Park Ranger and identified themselves as god. God signs in as god, not as park ranger. (my head is starting to hurt on this one......)

regardless, no wonder the "dark side" wins if we can't notice something as obvious as god is really not god, but tells people that he/she/it is god....and people don't even notice.
